Pope And Young Photos....
NDBA's webmaster is looking for photos to compliment the North Dakota Pope & Young page. The photos are not limited to just NDBA members who harvested an animal, as this portion of the web site is here to recognize the animal along with the hunter who harvested it whom ever he or she may be. There would be a link set up to each photo from the list of the records displayed. If you are interested please contact info@ndbowhunters.org   Back to Top
Competitive Archer of the Year....
Congratulations to the 2004 “Competitive Archer of the Year”  Darin Wold of Watford City. The competition award was created to recognize the individual who shows the utmost dedication to the sport of competitive archery.  This is our 9th year for handing out this unique award.  To determine the “Competitive Archer of the Year”, we use a point system that would allow every one a chance to win, even if you did not place 1st in your division.  It was set up so that if you attend a state tournament, compete and turn in a score you will receive 1 point.  Depending on how you place in your respective division, you would then receive points 1 through 10.  This would create a maximum of 11 points possible for each state event, if there were 10 or more archers competing in your division.  This would make a possible total score of 44 points.  For the year of 2004, Darin competed in all the state tournaments.  He placed 1st in the field round, 1st in the outdoor 3-D, 1st in the indoor 600, and 1st in the indoor 3-D.  This gave him a score of 38 points.

Pope And Young Club Changes Let-Off Rule....
The Pope and Young Club's Board of Directors approved a change to the Club's records program that will allow the Club to begin accepting big game entries harvested by compound bows that have let-offs greater than 65 percent. This new let-off rule will go into effect January 1, 2004. However, the P&Y Club says any record book entry taken with a compound bow exceeding 65 percent let-off will be listed with an asterisk in the Club's official record books. The proposal also called for the production of a periodic specialty book that would contain only animals harvested with traditional bows (recurve bows, longbows and self bows), in addition to them being listed in the all-time record books. The P&Y Club says the change is retroactive, meaning that animals harvested in the past can now be submitted for entry into the P&Y record books. The Club's "traditional-only" record book is scheduled to be published in 2007, with subsequent editions published on a 6-year cycle. Rivers Edge Announces Treestand Recall....
Rivers Edge announced a recall this week of its Big Foot Series and Lite Foot Series treestands. Rivers Edge says customers should stop using the stands immediately because if the strap mounting bracket loosens or rotates, the strap hook can release, causing the treestand to detach from the tree. The company says it's received three reports of hunters falling to the ground after their stands detached from the tree. The recalled Big Foot and Lite Foot Series of treestands are "hang-on" stands that can be identified by a yellow warning label affixed to the stand that reads: "Rivers Edge Hunting Products." The treestands have dual post seat uprights and a gold-colored strap hook bracket. Rivers Edge says only treestands with the gold-colored bracket are included in this recall.Consumers should call (800) 204-7435 or visit Rivers Edge's Web site at www.ardisam.com for free replacement hardware for self-installation.
